The Pomp Of Spiritual Renewal

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” – Isaiah 61:10-11

As we travel through this life, we often make decisions that lead us away from God. Sin often leaves our head full of questions, our heart full of grief, and our body full of scars. We often feel unlikable, unappreciated, and insignificant. But, God sees us as valuable and worthy of His investment. He knows who we are, but He also sees us for who we can become in Him. In His grace, God then extends to us forgiveness and renewal, He promises us joy and comfort, and He offers to us peace and satisfaction. He pours Himself continuously and abundantly into the lives of His undeserving children to give an open display of His goodness to a world that is desperately craving something that is both positive and satisfying. The word pomp simply means “stately or splendid display; splendor; magnificence.” As we walk with the Lord, we will notice His lavish treatment of us and we too will be “…beyond measure astonished [and say,] He hath done all things well” (Mark 7:37).
