The Planting Of Renewal

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)  Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

Spiritual renewal is a process of learning to depend less and less upon self and relying more and more on the Spirit. God designed giving to generate spiritual growth in His children. Everything that we have has been given to us by God and, as such, we have also been given the responsibility to be profitable stewards of all that is His (Matthew 25:14-30). Romans 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Those blessings aren’t just meant to equip us to become more like Jesus, but they enable us, they give us the opportunity, to make a difference in the lives of others. That requires you and I being alert and looking for opportunities to serve the Lord with our resources and then placing our faith in God to give the increase. There are people that God has placed around us who desperately need us to be generous with all our God-given resources – physical, mental, emotional, and financial. When we give of ourselves and when we give of our best both obediently and cheerfully, God restores us with more of His blessings so that the planting and growing process can begin again.
