The Preservation Of Renewal

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.” – Hebrews 6:17-20

We are constantly standing on the verge of allowing the volatility of this world create uncertainty and instability within our heart. The tempests, the temptations, and the trials of this life may often beat and batter us, but, in Christ, we find the strength, the safety, and the stability that we need to weather the storm and to let the glorious light of the SON to shine through. Jesus alone is meant to be our place of Refuge. This place, however, is not meant to be a place of retreat, nor is our time here to be temporary; it must become our place of residence. For only within its walls can we experience peace. In the Old Testament, when the guilty party entered the city of refuge, he was not allowed to come and to go as he pleased. He had to remain within the borders of that city. It was there and only there that he would be comforted, enjoy hope, and develop confidence and courage. He was to stay there as long as the high priest remained alive. Jesus is our High Priest and in His life, His promise and His presence alone can we find the tools and the wisdom that we need for our peace and our preservation.
